In the past year, fast food companies have started to become the Big Lots of the restaurant business. With household names like McDonalds seeing a 44.5% decline in profits, they have been forced to come face to face with fierce competitors such as coffee shops, delis, and other “haute cuisine without haute cash” restaurants. People want to eat more healthily and they are voting with their feet. The fast food giants have responded by redesigning their menus, but they are still not there, yet.
